Mentor- a wise and trusted counselor or teacher; an influential senior sponsor or supporter
Well, this is what dictionaries speak!
From the day we're born to the day we die, we get mentored by someone or the other, be it someone elder to us or younger. Age never becomes a criteria when it is the mind and heart that wants to feed itself to learn and grow. Not everyone of us might observe this but it is what it is!
Be it academics or sports or art, we keep on looking for people to mentor us. A mentor (or guru) is the best person to have and learn from. But remember, if you feel you haven't found one for whatever thing you are upto, don't stop, keep looking and keep exploring.
Realisation of the facts to ourselves sometimes does different wonders. From beginning when we're surrounded by our parents and teachers to guide us for anything, at times we might find it annoying when they be rude but now when I look back, those were the bitter medicines with some of the astonishing results which have shaped our present. Now why do I say this? Because we may not always get the mentor that we expect but we may always get the best of what could be and you know, it is better that something's are left for us to be figured out!😉
The day I realised this, almost 2 decades of my life had passed and the hit which reality gave was one of the best lessons of my life!😂
But while having this realisation, a different thought which clicked onto my mind was, "what if we could be our own mentors?"
When we know every possible thing there is to do, when we have ample amount of resources to pull data from, when atleast there is a chance where we have the ropes of our lives into our hands, why can't we be our own mentors? Definitely we might lack their expert knowledge and experience and there's no comparison to it. But when time comes we need to learn from our own mistakes and that only take place once we are the ones who make our choices and put things to action.
Isn't it worth a while to give it a thought? To just close your eyes, think of yourself sitting on a chair facing an alter ego of you, Treat and talk to yourself the way you want things to be, push yourself to create a vision and get to action.
When it comes to experience, all I know is positive self talk and actions give far more results than just sitting on our a**es and waiting for a push to take place.
So, when are you starting to mentor yourself?😉
